Lanterns has officially started production! Fans have gotten their first look at the upcoming Green Lantern series in a pair of BTS photos.
Green Lantern fans have been on the edge of their seat for the past few days. Following Poorna Jagannathan confirming that Lanterns was set to start production the following day in an interview, the entire fandom was refreshing their feed to see if the series would release BTS photos or any sort of promotional material to help celebrate the project starting filming in earnest.
Following the growing tradition of the DC Universe, Lanterns did just that. BTS photos were released online, showing the crew working in an indoor warehouse to set up camera tests for the series. Alongside the work behind the camera, the image showed off the chairs of three actors set to star in the series. These names include Kelly MacDonald, who will play Sheriff Kelly, Garrett Dillahunt, who was cast as William Macon, and Kyle Chandler, who is set to play the Green Lantern Hal Jordan.
Camera testing has begun for HBO’s ‘LANTERNS’ series.

What To Expect From The Green Lantern Series
Lanterns has been described as having a similar tone to True Detective, with the series grounding the usually galactic Green Lantern corps on Earth to uncover a mystery hidden in middle America. For the time being, this means that a lot of BTS photos are likely to find their way online over the next few months, as production is likely to take place outside or on-location instead of in the usual studio backlot covered in greenscreens.
Yet this doesn’t mean the series will be completely devoid of Green Lantern staples. Joining Kyle Chandler’s Hal Jordan and Aaron Pierre’s John Stewart, Ulrich Thomsen was cast Sinestro in the upcoming project. This likely suggests that, whatever the mystery is that the duo is investigating in Lanterns, it may be heavily tied to the history of the Green Lantern corps, and potentially even the origins of Hal Jordan and the Yellow Lantern corps.
The Green Lantern series Lanterns is currently in production for HBO. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
