The Boys are having a bloody good time! Jack Quaid recently posted a set photo giving fans their first look at his return in the fifth season of the beloved Prime Video series.
The Boys is quickly barreling toward what may be one of the most explosive final seasons in television history. The most recent finale of the series changed the status quo, shoving both heroes and villains alike into a brave new world headed into season 5. Though given how long seasons of the show take to come out, combined with the intensity of the final moments, fans have been on the edge of their seat for any set photo that could reveal new details about the show’s final outing.
Surprisingly, this first look didn’t come from the paparazzi or an official press release, but Jack Quaid himself! The star recently posted a set photo of him filming season 5, revealing him absolutely drenched in blood. While the wanton blood and gore of The Boys means there’s not much that can be gleamed from this first look, it does suggest that the series won’t be waiting for later in the season to crank the chaos up to eleven.
The Boys Season 5 Gets Dark
Despite the reputation of The Boys painting it as the most depraved and irreverent series that has ever hit streaming, the show’s over the top violence is often steeped in political satire. (Sometimes. Other times they just want to torture Jack Quaid). That satire, too, has seemingly been cranked off the scale in season 5 a set photo batch released on social media. This includes some pretty dark allegories to detention camps, and police paddy wagons sponsored by Vought themselves.

It looks like the supes will be putting The Boys into freedom camps, places disguised as ‘liberating the truth’ when nothing but violence and torture towards humans

One set photo in particular seems to reveal that Teenage Kix, a parody of teams like the Teen Titans and Young Avengers, will be making their debut in season 5. This is interesting given one of their core members, Popclaw, played a major role in the first season of The Boys. It’s currently unclear if this connection will be addressed, or if the connection from the comics will simply be ignored.
