Fans finally know who the Hammer of Boravia is! The identity of the mysterious Superman villain has been revealed in the latest slate of Funko Pops.
The Hammer of Boravia has been one of the most confusing elements of Superman for theorizers. Fans already knew they had a mystery villain on their hands with Ultraman. However, when the brass bullet came flying through the sky in the latest trailer for the upcoming film, the internet was at a complete loss as to how all of these disparate elements could come together in a way that would still leave Lex Luthor as the main villain.
These led to a wave of speculation about the true identity of the Hammer of Boravia. The earliest bits of theorizing actually centered on the character being Gorilla Grodd, thanks to a doomsday prophecy from Creature Commandos featuring the simian. Recently, fans believed that the character could be Milly Alcock’s Supergirl in disguise, introducing her as a villain before teeing her up as a hero in her own story next year.

Yet, just like all good speculation, this theorizing must come to an end. And much like every other DC mystery in the past six years, it’s all because of merchandise. The latest line of Funko Pops for Superman show off new looks at many iconic characters from the film. However, it also interesting shows that the Hammer of Boravia and Ultraman occupy the same character number, with Ultraman simply being a chase variant of the villain.

This is certainly interesting. While fans always had an inkling that the Hammer of Boravia and Ultraman could be the same villain, an official confirmation from Funko Pops raises even more questions. Why does the character change identities? Will they take on other costumes? What happens to the original metal suit? And, most importantly, why do fans still not know who’ll be playing this mystery villain in Superman?
