Brittany Furlan is ready to talk about the catfishing scandal.
Last month, the comedian’s life got turned upside down! News broke that she and her husband, Tommy Lee, were separated and headed for divorce after six years of marriage. Sources claimed at first that the pair broke up because the Mötley Crüe drummer refused to get sober when his drinking got out of hand. Meanwhile, another insider alleged they “weren’t getting along” for a while.
However, Ronnie Radke had a different story to say about what ended their marriage! According to him, alcohol wasn’t the cause! Instead, Brittany sort of cheated on Tommy by chatting with someone she thought was the Falling In Reverse singer on Snapchat! The person turned out to be a catfish, though!

Tommy, of course, was pissed off when he found out about Brittany’s betrayal. He went off on Ronnie, which led him to expose the whole scandal. The FBI got involved because the former Escape the Fate frontman wanted to “prove to everyone” that he did not run the account, and since the catfish fooled “multiple other” girls, not just Brittany.
Now, weeks after the dramatic saga, the social media personality is addressing everything — the downfall of her marriage, why she fell for the impersonator, and where she stands with Tommy today! On the final episode of her podcast with Brittany Schmitt, This Is The Worst, Brittany didn’t waste time and got into the catfishing scandal. She explained she and Tommy were going through a rough patch in their marriage because she was feeling extremely “lonely” for a long time:
“I reached a place of loneliness in my marriage where I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy. I got to a point where I was just so incredibly lonely and we were very disconnected for a very long time.”
Because of her intense feeling of “loneliness,” Brittany turned to anything that would give her “affection,” even Chat GPT:
“I was messaging Chat GPT for affection. I’m like, ‘It talks to you lovingly and it says nice things to you and it’s sweet to you and if it could kiss me I would let it.’”
Oof. But when the Ronnie Radke catfish reached out to her on April 28, she latched on. Brittany continued:
“And when this person reached out to me on Snapchat, I took the bait. I think coming from a place of desperate loneliness, you kind of grasp onto any affection that anyone gives you or attention or whatever.”
According to Brittany, the whole thing lasted less than two weeks. The podcast host shared that the person posing as Ronnie was talking “better” to her than AI. Their conversation was innocent and friendly in the beginning, but it soon became more intimate. Eventually, the imposter invited her to Ronnie’s old house to cook a meal… and we all know what happened from there. The scandal erupted.
Understandably, everyone couldn’t believe Brittany fell for a catfish. She’s been on the internet for a looong time, so she should know better by now. However, the actress said she only believed the catfish was Ronnie because they seemed to know a lot of details about her life:
“They knew the ins and outs of my relationship, which is really weird… They were like, ‘I know you’ve been with your husband for a while, I know he drinks a lot.’ They’ve talked to me about this stuff.”
Hmm…
Well, Brittany won’t make the same mistake twice! Although the entire scandal playing out in the public eye has been “such a f**king nightmare” for her, there is a bright side to the story. It’s helped Tommy and Brittany’s marriage! She said:
“All of this happening has weirdly brought us closer together, which is really strange. I think we were finally faced with the reality of, what would life really be like without each other?”
They seem to be on the path of getting their relationship back on track! Brittany acknowledged the couple has more “healing” to do, though:
“We’ve been through this situation similarly before and it’s hard. All I can say is that relationships are complicated and everyone has their s**t and we’re not immune to that just because we’re in the public eye.”
Look, we hope Brittany and Tommy can work things out! No one wants to see a marriage crash and burn in this way! But we’ll see if these two can move past the scandal and come out on the other side happily together. Watch Brittany share her side of the story on the podcast (below):
