This is so unnerving. Ugh…
According to a new report out this weekend, King Charles III‘s cancer is now being viewed as incurable.
First published by the associate editor of the UK Daily Telegraph — a woman named Camilla Tominey — on Saturday, the report cites insiders who say Charles’ difficult cancer cannot be cured by modern medicine. Which is obviously so, so sad.
But actually, things are not quite as bad as you may think for the 76-year-old monarch. That’s because Tominey also states in her report this key distinction: that the cancer likely won’t be the thing that kills Charles, either. According to the royal insider, those closest to the king who are aware of the full extent of his medical condition say it is likely that he will die with cancer, but not of cancer.

That’s an important distinction, in that the cancer will be in his body for the rest of his life without being able to be extracted, and yet it apparently won’t progress to the point that it becomes a mortal threat on its own. That’s what doctors are reportedly hoping for Prince William and Prince Harry‘s father, at least.
A spokesperson for the king apparently refused to comment when Tominey went to them with this info, so there’s been no outright confirmation (or denial, FWIW) from Buckingham Palace.
And yet Tominey did add something more to her reporting, too: that the royal fam is already tentatively planning for Charles’ 80th birthday in 2028. Which, hey, that’s a good sign!
Still, tho, even though that “with” and “of” distinction is critical, this reporting about Charles’ health in general is no doubt going to reignite speculation that he’s in dire straits right now. Obvi, people have been pointing to major health issues on his end for no shortage of time at this point. So, folks will almost certainly take this new claim and run with it wherever and however they may.
And then, of course, there’s the ongoing estrangement from Meghan Markle‘s husband to deal with, as well.
There is clearly a lot going on here — and all of it stressful. Seems like there really are no easy answers at this point for Charles, Harry, William, or anyone else.
