By this point, everyone has given their “take” on Robert Downey Jr. playing Doctor Doom. From scoopers to Youtubers, there have been collective centuries of discourse about the controversial Avengers: Doomsday casting decision. Marvel itself isn’t immune from the discourse, with half a dozen of their actors giving their thoughts on the news.
The latest to jump on the reaction train is actually one of Marvel’s oldest actors: Chris Evans. The actor recently remarked that he wasn’t going to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, but that hasn’t stopped the media from asking him questions. Which includes his thoughts on Robert Downey Jr. trading out the Iron Man suit for the metal mask of Doctor Doom.
Chris Evans’ Thoughts On Doctor Doom’s Casting
As expected, it seems as though Chris Evans has nothing but positive words about Marvel giving Robert Downey Jr. another major role in the franchise. The actor claims that he was caught off guard by the announcement that he would be portraying Doctor Doom, but that he’s sure that the actor will do amazing things once Avengers: Doomsday hits the silver screen.
“I mean, I can’t wait to see what he does,” Evans explained to Screen Rant. “I’m sure it’s going to be incredible. When I first heard it, I was like, ‘Huh?’ But it’s almost like cheese and the crust. You’re like, ‘There’s nothing more we can do with this pizza,’ and then you’re like, ‘Oh, damn. You know? What else? What if we did this? Whoa.’”
Incredibly confusing metaphors about pizza aside, it’s good that Robert Downey Jr. has Chris Evans in his corner when it comes to being cast in Avengers: Doomsday. The internet has been relentless in their criticisms regarding bringing the actor back as Doctor Doom. Though, until the movie finally comes out, it’s unclear which side of the fight is truly right.
