Will Monica Rambeau ever return to the main Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline? A new rumor seemingly reveals how Rambeau and Captain Marvel will return in Avengers: Doomsday.
While filming on Avengers: Doomsday is now underway, very little is known about what’s in store for fans with the new Marvel Studios movie. The few things that can be surmised come from prior MCU projects, and don’t give many answers regarding how they’ll play into the larger story of Doctor Doom and the multiverse. Perhaps the most obvious of these ties is the fact that Monica Rambeau was trapped in an alternate universe at the end of the last Captain Marvel film.
Given Monica Rambeau landed in a universe that appeared to belong to Fox’s original X-Men team, as shown by the reintroduction of Kelsey Grammer as Beast, it always seemed likely that the tease would tie into Avengers: Doomsday in some way. However, given Captain Marvel is one of the only people who know the heroine was cast out of the MCU’s main timeline at the end of the film, it was never clear exactly how the other Avengers would be tied into that plotline.
What Is Captain Marvel’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday?
The answer to this query has seemingly been given in the form of a new rumor from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus. According to their report, Captain Marvel has seemingly been working nonstop to try to bring Monica Rambeau back to the Sacred Timeline during Avengers: Doomsday. However, in trying to bring her close friend back, she may end up causing irreparable damage to the MCU.
“See, from what I understand, she’s currently studying how Kamala’s bangle aka the Kree Quantum Bands work, as well as studying the jump point systems to see how she is able to recreate the events from The Marvels that could allow her to bring back Monica from wherever she went. Problem is, if she does that, she’ll be dooming her universe to a terrible fate.”
It’s unclear what the scooper means by “terrible fate.” However, given information about other installments in the MCU revolving around the multiverse, it’s likely that Captain Marvel’s attempts to bring Monica Rambeau back will lead to an incursion during the events of Avengers: Doomsday, which is when two universes literally collide. While perhaps a shocking role for one of the MCU’s most powerful heroes, it would certainly be interesting to see on the big screen.
