Is Nick Fury finally making his return? The latest Avengers: Doomsday rumor teases Samuel L. Jackson may be taking up his iconic role once more.
There’s a lot of questions about who will return in Avengers: Doomsday. While the biggest faces of Marvel, new and old, are set to appear in the film, there are a few key faces who sit in an odd limbo. Perhaps the biggest example of this is Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. Despite being a mainstay in the franchise’s first three phases, the character has taken a backseat during the Multiverse Saga, casting doubt on his role heading into the future.
Though it seems hope for his return isn’t all lost. The latest rumor from Alex Perez at The Cosmic Circus suggests that Samuel L. Jackson will appear as Nick Fury in Avengers: Doomsday. This would mark Nick Fury’s third appearance in the Multiverse Saga, having only previously appeared in The Marvels and in the leading role of the Secret Invasion television series.
Nick Fury’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
Given what fans know about Avengers: Doomsday, it’s not hard to see where Samuel L. Jackson could fit in. Valentina Allegra de Fontaine recently formed the New Avengers. With Sam Wilson now set out to reform the Avengers under his watch, it wouldn’t be shocking to make his return in connecting the team to heroes like Captain Marvel.
Beyond that, it’s likely that Samuel L. Jackson will also appear in Secret Wars after Avengers: Doomsday. His performance as Nick Fury has become integral to Marvel’s legacy. If Secret Wars is truly meant to be a celebration of the franchise, it only makes sense for his character to make a return. Though it’ll likely be at least a year until details about his role in the sequel are fully finalized- if they come to fruition at all.
