Is Superman getting reshoots? James Gunn sets the record straight as filming ramps back up on the DC Universe’s most anticipated project.
Waters have been surprisingly smooth in the last few months for Superman. While fans are still frothing at the mouth for a trailer, attention has mostly been shifted to other upcoming DC Universe projects like Lanterns. Even James Gunn has seemingly shifted priorities, with him wrapping up production on Peacemaker as he goes through his promotional tour for Creature Commandos.
Those waters have now become choppy with bubbles of worry. A recent report came out stating that Superman would be undergoing a few days of reshoots in Los Angeles. To many, even the word reshoots can turn the most promising project into one that’s dead in the water. This left fans terrified that James Gunn might not be able to pull off what many previously thought was impossible in rebooting the entire DC Universe.
James Gunn Speaks On Superman Reshoots
James Gunn continues to be the water tank to dip the nuclear rod that is the DC Universe fandom into whenever their reactions get too out of control. The director took to Threads to set the record straight on the supposed reshoots for Superman. Gunn revealed that, while they will be doing pickups for the project, it’s primarily individual shots, and not extensive changes to scenes as many fans might have expected.
“Sort of. Not a few days. We’re doing a day and a half of pickup shots. No scenes. No reshoots. Just a handful of individual shots to enhance the film.”
If nothing else, Superman has been a film defined by James Gunn having a clear vision for his film and executing on it expertly. It’s likely fans won’t even notice what scenes he picked up when the DC Universe project finally hits the silver screen. However, it does show a dedication to quality that is rare in the hustle and bustle world of blockbusters.
Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
