‘The Batman Part II’ Rumor Reveals Production Is On Track For 2026 Release Date…For Now

]

Has The Batman Part II found its villain? A new rumor suggests that the film has sent out an offer to an actor in the lead-up to production.

As 2024 comes to a close, fans have begun to worry about The Batman Part II. The movie was delayed due to the Hollywood strikes, having been pushed from fall of next year into October of 2026. This led many to expect that production would take place sometime this year, especially given how long it took filming to start on the first film. However, with the year all but over, not even a casting rumor has managed to find its way onto the net as Matt Reeves continues to fine tune the script for the highly-anticipated sequel.

Luckily, it seems as though progress may finally be ramping up toward production. A new rumor from Jeff Sneider and John Rocha on The Hot Mic reveals that casting has begun for The Batman Part II, with an offer being sent out to an actor to play the villain. While it’s unclear what character is being cast, the fact that an offer is being sent out instead of an audition being held suggests that the name is big enough to bypass the usual rigamarole that most actors experience.

When Will The Batman Part II Release?

Currently, The Batman Part II is set to release in October 2026, with production on the project reportedly set to begin in late Spring of next year according to Jeff Sneider’s newsletter. However, it seems the scooper isn’t exactly confident that the sequel will make its projected release date, stating that he’s heard from multiple sources that the release date will ultimately end up being changed.

This rumor seems to imply that The Batman Part II may face another delay in production. If the sequel did film in Spring of next year to release in October 2026, it would be nearly the same gap as the first film faced with wrapping in early 2021 for a March 2022 release. So any delays to filming would in turn mean Matt Reeves likely wouldn’t be able to have the sequel done in time for release.
