Anya Taylor-Joy may be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to recent reports linking the actress to Tom Holland’s Spider-Man 4.
A new rumor from Hollywood insider Daniel Richtman suggests that Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige is interested in bringing Anya Taylor-Joy into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Richtman shared on his Patreon that Taylor-Joy is being considered for a role in the next Spider-Man movie. The Queen’s Gambit and Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga star previously played Illyana Rasputin AKA Magik in the Fox-produced Marvel movie The New Mutants.
In an interview with Metro Entertainment, Spider-Man producer Amy Pascal weighed in on the possibility of Taylor-Joy joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. “She would be fantastic, she’s amazing, we’re not quite at that stage yet,” Pascal said at a press event. “There’s a lot of fantastic female characters, but I can’t talk about all this, I can’t tell you everything.”
Everything we know about Spider-Man 4
While Taylor-Joy’s involvement remains unconfirmed, Spider-Man 4 continues making headlines. Entertainment reporter Jeff Sneider recently revealed that Zendaya’s MJ may have a smaller role in the upcoming film, possibly paving the way for other female characters to take the spotlight. Sneider also suggested that Sacha Baron Cohen is in talks to join the cast of Spider-Man 4 as the Marvel villain Mephisto, with Charlie Cox’s Daredevil also expected to make an appearance.
Marvel Studios has yet to officially comment on any of the casting or plot details for Spider-Man 4. The movie is currently expected to begin production after Tom Holland wraps up shooting his role in Christopher Nolan’s next movie, which is set to begin filming in early 2025.
Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures have set a July 24, 2026 release date for Spider-Man 4, with Tom Holland officially signed on to reprise his role as Peter Parker. Destin Daniel Cretton, known for directing the Marvel Cinematic Universe movie Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, is confirmed to helm the project, marking his first entry into the Spider-Man franchise.
Adding to his packed schedule, Holland is also expected to appear in Avengers: Doomsday, Marvel’s next big ensemble film, which is set to open on May 1, 2026. With back-to-back releases, Holland is positioned to dominate the box office in Summer 2026.
