Can’t we all just get along? Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox tease how Daredevil: Born Again will escalate the series to new, crazier heights.
The first trailer for Daredevil: Born Again has officially hit the net, and it is glorious. Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio have not lost their stride as Matt Murdock and Kingpin respectively, the two iconic actors somehow managing to bring the same rage and nuance that the Netflix series was beloved for, even on a much more family-friendly streaming service like Disney Plus.
That passion seems to be boiling over into the series itself. Vincent D’Onofrio and Charlie Cox recently sat down with Entertainment Weekly to talk about their return in Daredevil: Born Again. On his part, Cox focused on how the Disney Plus show continues to escalate the stakes established in the Netflix incarnation of the project, teasing that Kingpin and Matt Murdock don’t have it in them to meet on good terms after all they’ve been through.
“I believe you have to be really careful when and how you bring these two people into the same room because we have to feel like when they meet, it is an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object. It has to feel like it could and will explode. The more you bring us together with no consequence, the less that illusion can maintain itself.”
“There’s actually an episode later on in the season where in an original draft we had a conversation, and I brought this up. I said, ‘I worry that if you tell the story that we can have a conversation and walk away from it at this stage, we lose a lot of stakes.’ So they found a really cool way to not have us do that.”
Daredevil: Born Again Raises The Stakes
Many fans worried that Daredevil: Born Again would tone down the violence that made the Netflix series so engaging to watch. Yet it seems that too will remain intact. Continuing off Charlie Cox’s comments, Vincent D’Onofrio that everything that happens in the show will build off what came before. The actor teased that both Matt Murdock and Kingpin will find themselves in bigger and crazier situations than ever before.
“Anything on our show is, nine out of 10 times, leading to something that’s even bigger and crazier. For Fisk, this journey is a path to more control.”
Given the trailer for Daredevil: Born Again already teased the death of someone close to Matt Murdock and Kingpin becoming mayor of New York City, it’s hard to imagine how the Disney Plus series could get even crazier. However, given how much Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio clearly care for their characters, it’s certain that the revival will be a treat for fans who’ve waited this long.
Daredevil: Born Again will release in March 4, 2025 on Disney Plus. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
