A new Marvel rumor suggests that Severance star Tramell Tillman could be replacing Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror for one final return against the Avengers.
One of the biggest loose threads that the Marvel Cinematic Universe has to contend with leading into their next Avengers films is Kang the Conqueror. The villain was set up to be the next big bad for the franchise, but those plans were suddenly disrupted following Jonathan Majors’ arrest and subsequent conviction on charges including but not limited to assault back in 2023. This led to Majors being ousted from the role, and the studio reworking the upcoming Avengers films to focus on Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Yet, it seems Kang’s time in the MCU isn’t over yet. A new rumor from The Hot Mic co-host Jeff Sneider suggests that the studio plans to bring the villain back for one of the upcoming Avengers films, but only for him to be killed, likely at the hands of Doctor Doom. Jonathan Majors is also set to be replaced as the character, with Severance star Tramell Tillman being eyed to take over the role.
Will Kang Return In Avengers: Doomsday?
Fitting of the character’s multiversal presence, there are countless ways that Marvel could wrap up Kang the Conqueror’s MCU story in the upcoming Avengers films, especially if Tramell Tillman takes up the mantle from Jonathan Majors. This rumor suggests that nearly every version of the villain will be wiped out by Doctor Doom in one of the two films, potentially using the research and plans of the Council of Kangs.
This would line up with the rumor that an evil version of the Avengers will appear at the tail end of the MCU’s multiverse saga. A team of heroes designed to take down Kang stretching their ambitions outward to the rest of the multiverse could be an engaging premise for the film. It could also allow Tramell Tillman to get more mileage out of Kang on the silver screen, potentially joining the heroes to ward off Doctor Doom and his legion.
