Ben Affleck Reveals The Biggest Thing He Hated About Playing Batman

]

Did Ben Affleck truly hate being Batman? The actor reveals the hardest part about taking on the role of the iconic Caped Crusader in the DC Universe.

Ben Affleck’s time as Batman will certainly go down as one of the oddest tenures of any actor in a superhero role. His time as the character coincided with one of the most controversial times in the history of the DC Universe, with the franchise being tossed from studio head to studio head and every project plagued with reshoots up the wazoo.

However, it seems that none of that was a deal breaker for Ben Affleck. Rather, there was one specific thing that really got his goat when it came to playing Batman: The batsuits. According to the actor, the costumes were very stuffy and sweaty, leading to very uncomfortable and exhausting days of filming whatever project he was on.

“I hated the Batsuits. The Batsuits are horrendous to wear,” Affleck explained to GQ. “They’re hot for one thing. They don’t breathe. They’re made to look the way they want them to look. There’s no thought put into the human being. So what happens is that you just start sweating. I’m already — I sweat, you know what I mean? So in that thing, you’d just be pouring water.”

“It just made it difficult to make the movie, because you’re so hot. It also does not make you feel very heroic, because you’re instantly exhausted and really sweaty. Maybe Christian [Bale] or Rob [Pattinson], guys like that, were just better at dealing with it.”

Will Ben Affleck Return As Batman?

As of right now, it seems as though Ben Affleck has hung up the cowl for good. The actor has previously gone on record about the emotional turmoil he went through while playing the part, and that he’s already said goodbye to his time as the iconic character. If he ever does return to the DC Universe, it likely wouldn’t be for a long time to come.

However, there still exists a script of a Batman movie starring Ben Affleck that never saw that light of day. While it’ll likely never get made, with James Gunn already having a writer helming the new Batman franchise for the DC Universe, it’s possible that it could be released or adapted into a comic as one final victory lap for Affleck.
