Brandon Sklenar Teases The Studio Is ‘Aware’ Of His Desire To Play Batman In The DC Universe

Does the DC Universe finally have its Batman? Brandon Sklenar speaks out on the recent viral fancast of him playing the Caped Crusader.

For the first time in a long time, Batman fans are suffering something they haven’t experienced for years in the DC Universe: a momentary drought of content from their character. This has led to a lot of interesting developments to cope with this injustice, perhaps the most prevalent being a growing fancast culture for the upcoming film. With perhaps the most popular one being Alan Ritchson, albeit followed in a close second by Brandon Sklenar.

Brandon Sklenar has been aware of this fancast for quite some time, and even commented on it before. The actor certainly fits the “pretty boy” bill that most people believe will be embraced by the DC Universe when they do cast their version of the Dark Knight. And it seems his enthusiasm for the role hasn’t waned, with the actor revealing that he still has hopes to fulfill his childhood dream of playing Batman on the silver screen.

I mean, for Batman? [laughs] Let’s keep running with that!” Sklenar told ScreenRant. “That’s something I’ve wanted to do since I was a little kid – and I’ve never even talked about it – It just started happening and I was like, ‘This is cool!’ And now, maybe, hopefully, it happens one day. I’d love to do it. It’s literally a childhood dream to do something like that, specifically that character. If I [were] ever to do any type of thing in the superhero space, that’s what it would be.”

Is Brandon Sklenar Playing Batman?

For most, a fancast on the internet will remain just that: a fancast. However, it seems Brandon Skelnar may know more than he’s letting on when it comes to his chances to join the DC Universe. Continuing on in the interview, the actor was asked if anyone has made the call about him being Batman. While he didn’t specifically say yes, he did indicate that DC Studios was aware of the push for him to play the character.

“Yeah. I think there’s some awareness of me on some level, probably. But yeah, I know they’re a ways away from doing that. But yeah, obviously, the little kid in me, and the adult me is, like, ‘This is cool!’ And I have a bunch of ideas. Anyway, it’d be cool.”

In truth, in the age of social media (especially given how online James Gunn is), it’s likely impossible that a fancast this popular doesn’t hit the studio desk. This awareness doesn’t make Brandon Sklenar any more or less likely to play Batman in the DC Universe, especially as there is likely a rigorous audition process to make sure they find the right actor. That being said, it’s certainly possible that this massive online push could at least get Sklenar a seat at the table.
