Is this yet another bad omen for Captain America: Brave New World? Harrison Ford reveals the MCU’s next project didn’t have a script when he agreed to play Red Hulk.
Captain America: Brave New World has been plagued with situations that have fans wondering about the quality of the MCU’s upcoming film. From reshoots to controversial casting decisions, the only thing giving fans hope about the project is that legendary actor Harrison Ford has signed on to play Thaddeus Ross, aka Red Hulk. At the very least, if an actor of that pedigree joined the film, the bones of the story must be something worth talking about.
However, it seems that Harrison Ford joined the MCU on different circumstances than many fans might expect. According to the actor in a recent chat with Variety, he joined Captain America: Brave New World with no script in his hands. Ford admitted that this was primarily due to seeing how much fun he’d seen other actors have in the universe, and wanted to see what all the fuss was about.
“Why not?” Ford remarked when reflecting on his decision to join Captain America: Brave New World. “I saw enough Marvels to see actors that I admired having a good time.”
Harrison Ford Didn’t Know He Was Playing Red Hulk
It seems that Harrison Ford wasn’t just unaware what the story of Captain America: Brave New World would be. The actor seemingly didn’t even know what character he was signing on for! Continuing to talk to Variety, Ford explained that he didn’t realize he was playing the MCU’s Red Hulk until later on in the process, comparing it to missing the last page of instructions during the process of building.
“I didn’t really know that at the end I would turn into the Red Hulk,” Ford continued on. “Well, it’s like life. You only get so far in the kit until the last page of the instructions is missing.”
Of course, none of this speaks to the inherent quality of Captain America: Brave New World. Harrison Ford was announced to have joined the MCU as Red Hulk in 2022, months before the project would even start filming. It’s understandable that a finalized script wouldn’t be ready. However, it does certainly take away a bit of a safety net for fans worried about the project’s quality.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
