Is Captain America: Brave New World in trouble? The official runtime for the film concerns fans about the Marvel’s rockiest recent project.
Captain America: Brave New World has been on thin ice with fans for a while. The film has been plagued with reports of reshoots, poor test screenings, and storyline after storyline being cut. With the movie only a month from release, it’s do or die for Marvel to lock in a version of the film that will satisfy fans new and old.
Sadly, recent developments don’t inspire confidence in the fandom. AMC Theaters has listed Captain America: Brave New World as having an official runtime of 1 hour and 58 minutes. This makes this the shortest film in the Captain America saga, coming in six minutes under Captain America: The First Avenger, which had an official runtime of 2 hours and 4 minutes.
What This Runtime Means For Captain America
Some may find it silly that a difference of six minutes could have fans worried about quality. However, it’s important to note that Captain America: Brave New World is a very different film than Captain America: The First Avenger. The latter was a simple origin film about Steve Rogers’ time in World War 2, whereas this upcoming film features Red Hulk, The Leader, The Serpent Society, and other heroes like Isaiah Bradley, Sabra, and a new Falcon.
That’s a lot of elements to cram into a runtime under two hours, even for the most experienced of writers. It’s possible that Captain America: Brave New World just has a startlingly brisk pace, with reshoots trimming a lot of the fat from the film. However, Marvel fans should also brace for yet another controversial project.
Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
