Instead of giving a waiter a tip after dining at a Mexican restaurant in Ohio over the weekend, one woman decided to leave a racist message on the receipt… a racist message inspired by President Donald Trump. Yep, here we are again…
An employee from Cazuelas Mexican Cantina in Columbus shared on Facebook on Monday a picture of the hateful note her co-worker Ricardo received from Stephanie R. Lovins. Prepare to get REALLY enraged, Perezcious readers. What she wrote is so disgusting. It says in blue ink on the tip line: “Zero” and “You suck.” So, no, she did not give a tip.
Stephanie then writes out the total amount. But in place of her signature, she exclaims:
“I hope Trump deports you!!!”

BTW, Ricardo’s fellow employee told people in the comments he’s disabled in one arm — and yet works two jobs, seven days a week, to provide for his family. Sounds like the kind of hard worker Republicans should love, right? Oh, and also he’s an American citizen. But of course, this customer didn’t care about any of that. Just that she could *other* him. White supremacist racist BS. We could SCREAM!!!
No one ever should be treated this way. So awful.
On Tuesday, Fabio Oribio, who leads marketing for the Cazuelas, spoke out more about the situation to The Columbus Dispatch. He said she may have been upset when she tried to use two coupons when the establishment had a one-coupon-per-table policy — apparently that’s a common complaint? That or the wait time during rush hour:
“It was a normal Sunday; things got a little busy, so the wait could have been a little longer than usual, but we aren’t really sure what made her write that.”
Doesn’t matter what upset her. There is no excuse for this. Fabio added that Ricardo, a natural-born United States citizen, also has never had a history of poor customer service. And as the employee said:
“This is no place for hate. We are not on one side or the other in terms of politics. We are a place where we have fun and drink.”
The receipt has since sparked outrage online, and internet sleuths found out that Stephanie works as a real estate agent at CENTURY 21 — well, used to! They also discovered she made several social media posts before deleting her account, where she denied it was her who left the message! She claimed her credit card was “lost/stolen and someone attempted to use it.” Such BS. Fabio confirmed to The Columbus Dispatch that the restaurant used video to confirm the note was written by a local woman.
And ultimately, Stephanie is not getting out of this situation without consequences! Not only is she dealing with backlash from the public, but she got fired following an investigation by her place of employment! A spokesperson for CENTURY 21 confirmed to NBC4:
“We are aware of the situation with the agent in question. Hate has no place within the CENTURY 21 brand, and we are taking this very seriously. After investigating the situation and connecting with the respective broker, as all companies affiliated with the CENTURY 21 brand are independently owned and operated, we can confirm that this agent is no longer affiliated with the brand.”

As for Ricardo? He should be getting a much better tip soon! A longtime customer created a GoFundMe campaign to raise money for the server, and the community has banded together to raise more than $8,000 for him at the time of writing this! Amazing! Meanwhile, Cazuelas Mexican Cantina released a statement on Facebook to thank everyone for their “support” and that the restaurant will continue to be “a welcoming space”:
“At Cazuelas Mexican Cantina, we believe in the power of respect, tolerance and acceptance. Recently, one of our team members faced an unacceptable situation, and we stand firmly against any form of hate or discrimination. Together, we will continue to create a welcoming space for everyone. Thank you for your unwavering support!”
