Chris Hemsworth Reveals The Fate Of New Asgard In ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Is New Asgard in trouble? Chris Hemsworth reveals new information about the current status of the new Asgardian homeland in Avengers: Doomsday.

There’s a lot of questions surrounding Chris Hemsworth’s God of Thunder leading into Avengers: Doomsday. The character has a new daughter and an old weapon, as well as a rather ugly costume from his last solo movie. This not to mention the hanging threads of prior Avengers projects, such as his prosthetic eye and the New Asgard that had been founded on Earth.

Even though Thor left the ruling of New Asgard to Valkyrie, fans have been wondering if the iconic location would be making a return in Avengers: Doomsday. It would be a nice chance to get some cameos in, even if the larger Norse pantheon wouldn’t be utilized in the film. It would also cement Chris Hemsworth’s hero as in retirement before coming back for “one last job” against the villainous Doctor Doom.

New Asgard’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday

However, it seems as though the odds aren’t looking good for New Asgard. Chris Hemsworth recently sat down to speak to the Scottish Daily Press. The topic New Asgard naturally came up given that the scene was filmed in Scotland. Sadly, as much as Hemsworth enjoyed working in the country, it seems Thor will be staying far from his homeland in Avengers: Doomsday.

“Filming The Avengers in Scotland was a really cool experience. It doesn’t look like we are coming back for Doomsday. But I’d love to not only visit there again but to film and do more work in the country. The people are amazing. There is something majestic about the Highlands, I’d love to do another movie there one day. It’s just a place made for an iconic battle scene. The backdrop is just stunning.”

Given how jam-packed Avengers: Doomsday already is, it’s not exactly shocking that they would skip out on a visit to New Asgard. However, it’s certainly disappointing given how little the location has been utilized since first introduced. Perhaps the final scenes of the film could show Chris Hemsworth’s hero buried there, but fans likely shouldn’t hold their breath.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in December 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
