The Legendary Star-Lord isn’t done quite yet! Chris Pratt recently teased that he’ll be making his grand return to the MCU in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 was a bitter sweet finale for the MCU’s most dysfunctional cosmic family. Yet while the project went through great pains to close the book on that chapter of the universe, it did leave one thread left unfurled. The final moments of the film suggested that Chris Pratt would return as The Legendary Star-Lord, with many suspecting that the actor would play a role in the as-of-yet renamed Avengers: Doomsday.
However, since the release of the film, there’s been no word on when or if Chris Pratt would return to his role as Star-Lord. Given how tumultuous the MCU has been in recent years, especially with Avengers: Doomsday being reworked from the ground up, some fans assumed that the plans for him to reprise his beloved role may have ultimately been scrapped in order to streamline the story into a direct lead-in to the Mutant Saga.
Will Chris Pratt Be In Avengers: Doomsday?
Chris Pratt was asked about these fears directly during his recent promotional run for the upcoming movie The Electrical State. During an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the actor was asked if there were any plans for him to return to the MCU in Avengers: Doomsday. While Pratt declined to make any definitive statements on if he’ll return in this specific movie, he did assure fans that the promise he made will be kept.
“There was a promise that Star-Lord would return,” Pratt remarked during the interview. “We will make good on that promise!”
Given Sam Wilson is set to assemble a new version of the MCU’s greatest superhero team in Avengers: Doomsday, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Star-Lord land on the roster, especially given he was the leader of the runner-ups. Though even if he doesn’t appear in the crossover, Chris Pratt is such a billable actor that he would likely be able to return in his own movie or series and be able to turn a profit for the studio.
