Does the DC Universe already have its Clayface? The latest newsletter from The Hollywood Reporter confirms four actors on the shortlist to be cast as the villain.
It’s still surreal that Clayface is slated to be the third film released for the DC Universe. However, with production gearing up, it’s now impossible to deny. The project is set to start filming in the coming months, which means the cast for the origin story should be coming together rather quickly in order to get all of the necessary steps of pre-production wrapped up. Which, of course, means rumors.
Surprisingly, there’s only been one rumor recently about who might be cast as Clayface in the DC Universe, stemming from scooper MyTimeToShineHello. Perhaps even more surprisingly, it seems that they were right, with The Hollywood Reporter confirming their shortlist of actors not long after the rumor was published.
Who Is Playing Clayface In The DC Universe?
Four actors are said to be on the shortlist to be cast as Clayface in the DC Universe. Horror fans should be familiar with the first, Jack O’Connell, having recently made a splash as the Irish vampire Remmick. The project seems to also be considering blockbuster stars, with The Hunger Games alum Tom Blythe also up for the role. Rounding things out, 1917‘s George MacKay and The White Lotus‘ Leo Woodall bring a healthy dose of drama to the mix.
Interestingly, all of these characters are young white men in their 20s-30s. Most of the famous incarnations of Clayface often portray him as an aging actor desperate to relive his glory days. While making the cast young certainly helps when it comes to the longevity of the DC Universe, it’ll be interesting to see how the film handles the change when it comes to the villain’s origin.
Clayface is set to release September 11th, 2026. This project has not yet been confirmed by DC Studios. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
