OK, this is some red-hot last minute dirt from a show that’s mostly kept it above the belt!
The premiere of the final episodes of Cobra Kai was held in Hollywood on Wednesday night. And two cast members who have played romantic interests since way back in Season 1 just casually revealed they’ve secretly been dating! Whoa! How long? Try… enough that they’re actually ENGAGED!!!

Tanner Buchanan and Mary Mouser, who play Robbie Keene (son of Johnny Lawrence) and Samantha LaRusso (daughter of Daniel-san) on the Karate Kid spinoff show, showed up to the event together. They were hanging off one another and showing off bling on THAT finger! And not just her! They both had rings! WHAT!!!
And they didn’t leave fans guessing either! Now that they’re public, they’re positively transparent! They posted a shared Instagram post announcing the engagement, writing:
“We’re so happy to finally share that we’re engaged. This is such a special moment in our lives, the closing of one chapter and celebrating the continuation of another. We’re so grateful for the love and support, and though we’re partial to having our private moments, we’re excited to share this check-in to our world”
Partial to private moments?? That’s a fact! They kept this secret so long! How? Why??
The answer to the first question is obviously a martial arts secret. The second? Well… Maybe to avoid a mess?
See, when Mary first joined the show she had another boyfriend. Yeah. She was dating an actor named Brett Pierce from 2015 to… well, yeah. We don’t know. We know in 2020 she posted a 5-year anniversary tribute, marking that they were still together then. In the since-deleted post, she wrote:
“Five years with you has felt like five minutes. Happy anniversary to the most spectacular boyfriend – who I am so grateful to say is also my best friend, my whole heart, and the only one I would want to be locked in a cabin with for the whole weekend.”
And in 2021 she said it was Brett who actually encouraged her to do the show! Well, we say encourage — it sounds like he INSISTED, as he was a big Karate Kid fan! Watch her tell the story to Kelly Clarkson (below)!
OUCH! That man pushed her into the He’s All That hunk’s arms! So… were they still together in 2021 then? When did Mary’s screen kisses with Tanner become real? We’re SO curious! But we won’t pry since they’re so partial to their private moments and all. And, you know, could kick our ass! LOLz!
