Is Daredevil joining the DC Universe? Charlie Cox gives his thoughts on which comic character he’d play on the other side of the pond.
One of the most age-old traditions in comic book adaptations is trading characters between franchises. Ben Affleck, Josh Brolin, and Isabela Merced are just a few names that have made the jump between Marvel and DC. And with Charlie Cox back in the spotlight as the Daredevil revival series nears, fans wonder if he’d ever consider a trip down to the deep blue sea.
While Charlie Cox didn’t express major interest in leaving Marvel for the DC Universe, it seems he does have some ideas if it ever did happen. Speaking at Fan Expo San Francisco (via ComicBookMovie.com), the Daredevil star admitted that he’d want to change pace a bit by playing the iconic villain Joker. However, given the pedigree of actors that came before him, he isn’t sure he’d be able to stack up.
“I wouldn’t want to take it on based on the actors you have in the past because they’re so brilliant, but I was thinking like, the Joker would be a lot of fun. If you could find a way to do something. You know, I mean, Heath Ledger for me nailed that part obviously. If you could find a new take on it in some way that would be cool.”
Who Could Charlie Cox Play In The DC Universe?
Charlie Cox isn’t the only Daredevil star who has dreams of the DC Universe. A few months back, his co-star Vincent D’Onofrio revealed his dream role would be to play Swamp Thing. If that were to come true, perhaps Cox could play the character’s iconic villain Patchwork Man as a way to flip their rivalry on its head.
When it comes to other characters in the DC Universe, the Marvel hero has no shortage of fancasts. Charlie Cox has been posited as playing everyone from Etrigan the Demon, to Mister Miracle, and even Superman himself! However, given he shows no sign of slowing down as Daredevil anytime soon, it’s not likely he’ll be making the jump to the freshly rebooted franchise.
