Is Ahsoka season 2 still parsecs away? Dave Filoni gives fans a much needed update on the beloved Star Wars series on Disney Plus.

Ahsoka made waves when it dropped on Disney Plus back in 2023. The series felt like a true love letter from Dave Filoni to fans who have been dutifully following the animated incarnations of the Star Wars universe. And with the project already having a greenlight for a season 2, fans expected things to start rolling quickly when it came to production starting back up.

However, as Ahsoka‘s one year anniversary came and went, fans were left with nary on update on the status of season 2. This left many fans worried the project may have been axed like many other Star Wars shows on Disney Plus. Luckily, Dave Filoni recently assured that the series was still being developed, just that it may be more challenging than was originally expected.

“I’m so well into that as well,” Filoni explained to ExtraTV when asked about the status of Ahsoka season 2. “I’ve been writing it, and I’m still the single writer on it, and so I’ve been enjoying doing that, but it’s a challenge, of course, and working some of these arcs through has been a challenge and making sure it’s all going to come out in a way that I think is exciting for fans.”

Dave Filoni Teases A Faithful Season 2

When anyone hears that there’s story challenges with a Star Wars project, it’s easy to jump to the idea that there is some sort of disaster behind-the-scenes on a studio level. However, it seems that Dave Filoni is staying true to his original plan for Ahsoka season 2, revealing that the higher-ups are very interested in the ground work he laid for the series during its original outing on Disney Plus.

“I know that they’re interested in where some of the things I developed in Season 1. I’m pretty happy with it. Love working with Rosario [Dawson], so I can’t wait to get back to that.”

Given how much has changed in the Star Wars landscape since the first season of Ahsoka premiered on season 2, it’s a minor miracle that Dave Filoni is sticking to his guns heading into season 2. However, given the project hasn’t even turned in its scripts, it’s not likely that the series will return anytime before 2026 (and that’s the most generous timeline!).
