How will the X-Men join the fight in Avengers: Doomsday? The latest rumor reveals how Marvel plans to reintroduce audiences to everyone’s favorite mutant group in the MCU.
The original X-Men cast appearing in Avengers: Doomsday is sure to be one of the most exciting moments in the entirety of the MCU. However, there still remain questions regarding how the crossover will be executed. Most of these actors haven’t been together on the big screen in nearly 20 years. Is it even possible to introduce them to general audiences without confusing people even more than they already will be with Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom?
Luckily, it seems as though Marvel already has a plan in place. Scooper MyTimeToShineHello reveals that Avengers: Doomsday will be taking inspiration from X-Men ’97 when it comes to introducing the team. The rumor states that the X-Men will be introduced to audiences by way of fighting a team of Sentinels, setting them up as heroes and showcasing each of their powers.
The X-Men’s Role In Avengers: Doomsday
This rumor already has some support. The latest images from the set of Avengers: Doomsday show what appeared to be a number of destroyed Sentinels littered across the ground. It could be that the crew is preparing to film these X-Men introductions as this article is being written. It would also explain why those with the most grounded powers were confirmed to be joining the MCU while others like Jean Grey were left on the sidelines.
It’s unclear if the Sentinels will play a role in Avengers: Doomsday outside of setting up the X-Men. It’s possible that Doctor Doom retrofits them to serve as the equivalent of Doom Bots (or, rather, a variation on the MCU’s Iron Legion). Though as the months go on, it’s likely set photos will illuminate the truth for fans.
Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters in May 2026. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
