Indian cinema is here with its first-ever sea horror adventure fantasy film, Kingston. This ambitious Pan-India project went on floors in 2023. It promises to take audiences on a thrilling journey. The film, headlined by multi-faceted GV Prakash Kumar and actress Divya Bharathi in lead roles, is directed by Kamal Prakash and is slated for a grand global release in March across Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages.

Kingston is based on the lines of Hollywood classics Pirates of the Caribbean & Harry Potter series. The film is designed as a visual spectacle and cinematic experience that blends the thrill of sea-based adventures with spine-chilling horror, a genre rarely explored in Indian cinema. The film combines the essence of global cinematic storytelling with Indian cultural richness. The makers have meticulously designed the narrative to resonate with a global audience while keeping the soul of the story deeply rooted in Indian traditions and folklore.
The film’s plot is shrouded in mystery, but sources suggest a compelling mix of treasure hunts, ancient legends, and supernatural forces. The storyline aims to transport viewers into a world of high-seas adventure, unearthing secrets of the deep while keeping them on the edge of their seats with horror elements.
Kingston marks GV Prakash Kumar’s foray into the Pan-India scale as an actor and producer, he takes in a challenging role in the film. In an exclusive conversation with Bollywood Hungama, he said, “Kingston is an action-adventure film driven by the sea horror fantasy genre. The film is a trilogy, made on a huge canvas. It’s the subject and the story that has excited me to be part of it, because it has universal appeal to it, and it is something that Indian audiences have never seen in our movies. The film has been set up on the lines of Hollywood films, Indiana Jones & Harry Potter series, & we truly hope the audiences welcome our film with love.
He added, “We will be releasing it in Hindi, Tamil, & Telugu languages. I’m very much excited to be part of it as a producer, music composer, and actor. The entire team has worked very hard on the film, and it is going to be a completely new experience and a visual delight for the global audiences.”
Kingston is produced by Parallel Universe Pictures and Zee Studios. Kingston has been designed as a Pan-India spectacle, aiming to capture audiences across linguistic and cultural boundaries.
