Spider-Man is here and he’s….grittier! The first official look at Spider-Noir shows Nicolas Cage in an astonishingly comic accurate suit for the character.
In many ways, Spider-Noir is a show that shouldn’t exist. It’s a live-action show about Nicolas Cage playing Spider-Man in a gritty reimagining of New York. Even just saying it’s a show Amazon made based on a Marvel property owned by Sony is enough to make anyone’s head spin. Yet, against all odds, the series has managed to come to light (or perhaps, dark).
Despite, or perhaps because, of how high-profile the project has been, the studios involved have played things spectacularly close to their chest. Aside from a few set photos leaking during the production of Spider-Noir late last year, there’s been no official news about Nicolas Cage’s journey as Spider-Man since last July. This left many fans wondering if the series may be in trouble.
Nicolas Cage’s Suit As Spider-Noir
Just in time to soothe the nerves of anxious fans, Amazon did release an official still showing off the suit Nicolas Cage will be wearing in Spider-Noir. And it seems, for once, Spider-Man fans can agree on one thing: it looks glorious. The suit looks pulled straight from the pages of the Spider-Man comics. However, on closer inspection, it seems to merge elements from the original comics and the animated Spider-Verse version of the character.

Of course, just because the suit looks good, that doesn’t mean the series will end up perfect. Nicolas Cage has a history of starring in both masterpieces and absolute flops. And given how many cooks were likely in the kitchen watching over Spider-Noir, to the point where the word Spider-Man had to be taken out of the title, it’ll be interesting to see how much freedom the show truly had in its execution.
