Is Doctor Doom in The Fantastic Four: First Steps? The latest rumor for the film reveals if Robert Downey Jr. will be making a cameo in the project.
To many, Doctor Doom and the Fantastic Four go together like peanut butter and…more peanut butter! The villain is intrinsically tied to the team in almost every incarnation of both, which is why it’s so odd that The Fantastic Four: First Steps seems to be devoid of the villain. This especially so as Robert Downey Jr. will be playing the character in the finale of the Multiverse Saga. One would expect that he’d at least make a cameo!
Yet it seems that hope for Doctor Doom appearing in The Fantastic Four: First Steps isn’t completely zero. The latest rumor from insider DanielRPK reveals that Robert Downey Jr. will be making an appearance in the upcoming film. While the scooper didn’t specify what the character’s role would be, it’s more likely than not that it’ll simply be a small cameo meant to set up the reason for the team to appear in Avengers: Doomsday.
Doctor Doom’s Role In The Fantastic Four: First Steps
While it’s possible that there’s a small cameo in the main story of The Fantastic Four: First Steps, it’s more likely than not that Robert Downey Jr. won’t appear until the post-credits scene. As such, it’s likely that the film will follow in the footsteps of Thunderbolts, simply showing a scene from Avengers: Doomsday with Doctor Doom instead of filming something bespoke for the post-credits scene.
As for what that scene would show, it’s anyone’s guess. Given how little Doctor Doom has been built up, it’s likely that the footage would show how he managed to transcend to such a high level of power to be able to take on the Multiverse. It’s possible that The Fantastic Four: First Steps has a cameo from whatever actor takes over the role of Kang as well, with Robert Downey Jr.’s character usurping the power he has for himself.
