An influencer in Arizona was found dead last week after going on a hike solo, and now her family wants answers about what happened.
According to Arizona’s Family, Hannah Moody, a social media personality with over 45,000 followers on Instagram, embarked on a hike on the Tom’s Thumb trail in Scottsdale on May 21. The 31-year-old was supposed to meet a friend for lunch afterward, but she never showed up. And when she failed to check in with anyone that day, her loved ones became concerned and reported her missing to the police.
Scottsdale authorities and local law enforcement launched a search for Hannah from there. But sadly, the influencer was not found alive. More than 24 hours after the hike, her body was discovered about 600 yards off the Gateway Trailhead in Arizona’s McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Authorities found no immediate signs of foul play or trauma, so her death is still a “mystery” to her family. However, they have a feeling about how she died….

It was 102 degrees when Hannah started her hike, but temperatures reportedly reached 106 degrees later that day. While nothing has been confirmed, her loved ones suspect she died from heat exhaustion. Her mom, Terri Moody, said:
“We’re trying to piece it all together. We’re all assuming it was heat-related. But that’s inconclusive. There were no signs of foul play. So it’s like a, you know, a mystery to us right now. And we’re trying to piece it all together because we don’t know of any conditions that she had or anything like that that would have caused anything.”
It’s unimaginable what this family is going through. Oof. After losing her daughter so young, Terri is understandably having a hard time coping. She continued:
“I see something and I think, ‘Oh, I should show Hannah that.’ We went out to eat last night and the restaurant we went to was really cute and I said, ‘Oh, Hannah would love this. I’ll have to see if she’s ever gone here.’”
Heartbreaking…
Ultimately, the momma hopes fellow hikers learn from this tragedy and take all the necessary precautions when they head out on the trails:
“I feel like the best thing people can do is bring a friend. I know that’s hard because people like to be in their solitude, but that would be my advice.”
No matter how experienced of a hiker you are, anything could happen. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
Our hearts go out to the Moody family. Hopefully, they get answers about what caused Hannah’s sudden death soon. Reactions, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments below.
