How ‘Ironheart’ Sets Up The Cancelled ‘Strange Academy’ Disney Plus Series

]

Was Ironheart going to tie-in to the cancelled Strange Academy series? The post-credits scene seemingly reveals how the two Disney Plus projects would have connected.

In many ways, Ironheart feels like a relic of a lost age of Disney Plus. A lot of decisions for the project feel like Marvel was truly swinging for the fences with how much content they could produce. Which makes sense, given the series wrapped filming three whole years ago. However, there’s perhaps no decision from the show that exemplifies this more than the scene that seemingly sets up Strange Academy, a project that has long-since been cancelled.

To catch those that didn’t watch Ironheart up to speed, the post-credits scene for the series sees the project’s main villain, The Hood, arriving at the magic shop of mystical practitioner Zelma Stanton. There, he teases that he needs some “supreme” help, and hopes to do a little “abracadabra”. While obscured by the language he uses, it seems as though The Hood is seeking out guidance from the Sorcerer Supreme himself: Wong. Who would’ve been the leading star of the cancelled Strange Academy Disney Plus series.

Will Strange Academy Ever Come To Light?

Luckily for fans, there may be a reason Marvel left this post-credits scene in Ironheart. Insider DanielRPK suggests that the studio is now re-assessing whether or not Strange Academy should move forward on Disney Plus, or if it should be reworked as a movie. The tease with The Hood is likely meant to gauge audience interest in a Disney Plus series that involves the character.

However, given the studio’s plan to cut back on content, it’s possible that Strange Academy remains on the cutting room floor. As for what happens to this post-credits scene if it remains cancelled, it’s very possible that the storyline continues heading into a potential season 2 of Ironheart. Though if reviving a series is a hard road, the idea of any Disney Plus series getting a proper continuation is downright Herculean.
