Is Chris Pratt going to play a big role in the DC Universe? James Gunn gives his thoughts on if the Legendary Star-Lord will be making the jump to a new franchise.
James Gunn is no stranger to casting his friends in movies. In fact, one of the main critiques of the DC Universe thus far is that he’s given too many key characters to people he simply seems close to. However, others have found the prospect to be exciting, wondering which of the director’s frequent collaborators will be the next to land a role in the ever-growing franchise.
Perhaps the biggest name people want to see make the jump over to the DC Universe is Chris Pratt, who played the leading role of Star-Lord in the Guardians of the Galaxy films. Dozens of names have been thrown out regarding who he should play, from Booster Gold to Adam Strange. However, he’s yet to be officially confirmed for the franchise. This has led many to wonder if James Gunn ever plans to cast him at all.
Will Chris Pratt Be In The DC Universe?
This topic was recently broached in an interview with ComicBook.com. During the chat, James Gunn touched on the long-held assumption that Chris Pratt will inevitably land a role in the new DC Universe. The director reveals that, while he is always on the look-out for characters that the actor could play, there are other considerations in place.
“Listen, Chris Pratt still one of my closest friends in the world and I am always looking for something for him. But also…the others, too. I mean he and Pom [Klementieff] are the ones that I see the most, and I’m the closest with and [Michael] Rooker. So I’m always looking for stuff.”
Of course, this doesn’t confirm either way whether or not Chris Pratt will join the DC Universe. It’s simply James Gunn saying that he hasn’t found a role that’s right for the actor yet. It seems only time will tell if the blockbuster mega-star will make his way into yet another superhero franchise. But given Gunn’s history, the odds are ever in his favor.
