John Economos is back and better than ever in Peacemaker! James Gunn shares a new look at Steve Agee’s role in the long-awaited season 2.
Peacemaker has made a lot of D-List DC characters into beloved household names. One of the most surprising is John Economos, played by Steve Agee. The character wasn’t much more than a background warden in the original Suicide Squad comics. Yet James Gunn did what he does best by turning him into a charming, but flawed, supporting character that has appeared in multiple projects prior to season 2 of Peacemaker.
To celebrate the anniversary of John Economos in the comics, James Gunn revealed a new look of Steve Agee returning as the character in Peacemaker season 2. While this doesn’t reveal much about the project, he does seem rather happy. The dye job on his beard also seems to be doing a lot better than in the old DC Universe, no longer having grey patches toward the bottom lip and instead being a uniform color throughout.
John Economos’ Role In The DC Universe
While John Economos is obviously set to return in Peacemaker season 2, it seems that James Gunn’s plans for the character don’t only exist within the raunchy series. Steve Agee recently reprised his role as the character in Creature Commandos, working alongside Amanda Waller to contain and interrogate the villain Circe. This suggests that the character is no longer on the outs with ARGUS following his rebellion at the end of The Suicide Squad.
Steve Agee is not currently tapped to return in any other DC project aside from Peacemaker. However, it’s likely that James Gunn would write John Economos into Creature Commandos season 2 as production on the project fast-tracks. It’s also more likely than not that the character will return in Waller given his proximity to the character.
