This is a twist in the Joey Lawrence divorce drama we did not see coming!

For those who don’t recall what happened, Samantha Cope filed for divorce from the 48-year-old actor after two years of marriage in August. She asked for full physical custody of their daughter and cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the breakup. However, we soon learned there was possibly more to the story behind the sudden split — a more scandalous one!

Joey was accused of cheating on Samantha with his married co-star of the film Socked In for Christmas, Melina Alves. Her estranged husband, Edward Rider, made the bombshell reveal in divorce documents, claiming the two were having an affair. He allegedly discovered this back in March. And Samantha found out at some point, too! However, that did not stop Joey from seeing Melina!

A source for People alleged he “continued to date Melina even after Samantha found out about it and confronted him.” That is bad enough, and it gets worse from there. While Samantha allegedly “wanted to go to counseling” afterward, what did Joey allegedly do instead? The insider claimed he “fooled their counselor” and got “ready for dates with Melina while Sam watched, bawling her eyes out.” What the f**k! No wonder why Samantha wanted a divorce! Who treats the wife and mother of their kid so cruelly?

Melina denied the cheating accusations. In a post on Instagram, the actress insisted she and Joey had a “meaningful friendship” — that is it. Yet she then noted they didn’t have a “sexual relationship” while they “were on set filming” for Socked In for Christmas. Something may not have happened during the project, but that doesn’t mean nothing went on between Joey and Melina afterward! Like, come on! If they were just friends, why not say they did not have a romantic relationship with each other during, after, or at any point in their lives? The wording just raises our eyebrows!

For his part, Joey also swore nothing happened between him and Melina. But similar to his co-star, he wrote they “did not have a physical relationship with her while filming the movie.” Again, that wording! It doesn’t convince us that there isn’t any truth to these affair allegations! It just makes us believe them more at this point! As the musician insisted he never cheated, he blamed Samantha for the breakup! No, he did not accuse her of cheating! Instead, he claimed the “marriage was fraught with difficulties from the beginning,” with the main issue being that Samantha didn’t like his 18-year-old daughter Charleston and 14-year-old daughter Liberty, whom he shares with ex-wife, Chandie Yawn-Nelson!

JEEZ!

Samantha did not address the cheating rumors or the shocking accusations from Joey at the time. But it seems the couple were talking things out away from the public eye because four months later, Joey and Samantha hard launched their reconciliation!

On Wednesday, the Blossom alum posted two pictures to Instagram from the premiere of his and his wife’s new holiday film Marry Christmas, which also stars his brothers Matthew and Andrew Lawrence, and their mom, Donna. Those two photos featured him and Samantha looking all loved-up as they posed together on the red carpet and kissing in another! WHAT! Written over the second image are the words:

“My forever after ”

We thought the marriage was “beyond saving,” Joey! Guess not! He’s now declaring their love is “forever!” See the post (below):

It is unknown exactly when or why they reconciled. According to TMZ, sources claimed Joey and Samantha got back together recently and plan to call off their divorce. It seemingly hasn’t happened yet, though. Wow. Our jaws are on the floor! Is anyone else just as shocked? If you asked us months ago, it did not seem likely these two would get back together! Not only from the horrible way Joey allegedly treated Samantha in the wake of the affair but because his post made it seem so final that their marriage was over for good! But look at them now! A couple again!

And we are not the only ones stunned by this news! His alleged mistress is, too! Melina issued a statement to People on Thursday, saying:

“While these situations are always multifaceted, I’d like to keep the details of it and my friendship with Joey private. As far as Joey and Sam reuniting and reconciling, it came as a surprise to me as everyone else, and if it’s true, I wish them all the love.”

A “friendship”? Hmm. So, that is the story Melina and Joey are still sticking with. She continued:

“I wish them restoration with the relationship with his two older daughters and his wife as that relationship is ever so important. And now their sweet girl, Dylan, gets to be raised in a home with both of her parents, surrounded by her sisters, her wonderful and loving grandmother Donna, and the rest of her family and that’s truly beautiful.”

Whelp, we bet Melina won’t have a “friendship” with Joey moving forward! Not if he wants his second chance with Samantha to work out! Thoughts on the statement and reunion, Perezcious readers? Let us know in the comments!
