Judy Greer Comments On Her Absence From ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’

Not everyone can fit on the Ant-Man boat! Judy Greer finally speaks on not being asked to return as Maggie Lang in Quantumania

Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania has gone down as one of the most infamous films in the MCU. The project had countless controversies, from VFX troubles, to recasting Cassie Lang, and the entire situation surrounding Jonathan Majors. Though perhaps the most meme-worthy thing to happen in the film is having Darren Cross return to the franchise and take on the mantle of M.O.D.O.K.

But not everyone from Ant-Man was asked to return for Quantumania. One of the most prominent figures missing from the project was Judy Greer, who made her debut as Scott Lang’s ex-wife in the MCU all the way back in the series’ first installment. It was never stated why the character didn’t return, especially given Cassie’s prominence in the story. However, it seems Greer was more than happy to come back if they gave her the call.

“I was in the last Guardians [of the Galaxy] as War Hog. War pig, I believe, was my name in the last Guardians [of the Galaxy,] but in the first two Ant-Man movies, I don’t… There’s been a lot of movies. But the reason, I don’t know why I wasn’t in Quantumania, by the way, but I went to the movie theater and saw it. I don’t know why they didn’t put me in it, but I really wanted to be in it. It’s so much fun.”

Judy Greer Wanted Powers For Maggie Lang

Making a return in Quantumania wasn’t the only hope Judy Greer had that was ultimately dashed. Continuing to speak on her time in the MCU, the actress admitted that she always wanted Maggie Lang to get powers in the third installment, even if it didn’t quite make sense. However, the idea was ultimately shot down by Ant-Man director Peyton Reed.

“I was begging for Peyton Reed for a superpower. I was like, ‘Please, please, can I, like, run into someone on the street and get a superpower? Please, please, please?’ And him and Paul [Rudd] would laugh at me, and then they never gave me one.”

While Maggie Lang never had powers in the comics, it would be far from the biggest change the MCU has made to the Ant-Man canon. Bringing Judy Greer back for Quantumania also could have reinforced the film’s message about family. While the future of the series seems uncertain, hopefully Greer finds her way back to the wacky world of ants and men if it lands a fourth installment.
