Will fans ever see Nebula again? Karen Gillan gives her thoughts on potentially making a return as the Daughter of Thanos in the MCU.
Nebula is one of the oddest cases in the MCU. Many wrote the character off in the first Guardians of the Galaxy as a one-note villain that would likely be forgotten as Gamora’s story moves forward. However, Karen Gillan managed to absolutely transform the character in the eyes of audiences, with her space faring heroine having some of the most growth out of any character in the entire franchise.
However, the end of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 seemed to put the MCU’s most erratic super team to bed for good, with many of the biggest stars confirming that they have no plans to return to the franchise. This left many to wonder if fan-favorite characters, such as Karen Gillan’s Nebula, were out of consideration to appear in future films now that the big tickets players of the series were missing in action for the foreseeable future.
Will Karen Gillan Return as Nebula?
Karen Gillan recently spoke about her time in the Guardians of the Galaxy during an interview to promote her new film The Life of Chuck. The actress was asked by MovieWeb if there were any plans for her to return in a future MCU project, specifically citing the upcoming Avengers duology to end the Multiverse Saga. While she didn’t give a firm answer as to the future of Nebula, she did seem to leave things open regarding any plans made down the line.
“It’s so much fun working in the Marvel world…in terms of the future, can’t say anything. You know how it goes, but maybe…never say, never.”
Of course, given how packed the MCU currently is, it’s likely that Nebula is far from the top of the list to make a return in the upcoming Avengers films. However, given Karen Gillan is one of the few Guardians of the Galaxy stars to remain interest in reprising their role in the franchise, it’s possible that she makes an appearance sooner rather than later.
