Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom‘s reps are speaking out in the aftermath of the couple’s sad split.
Of course, we’ve been tracking the terrible tale for weeks now — that the 48-year-old actor and the 40-year-old pop star have gone their separate ways after spending nearly a decade together. But neither the duo nor their reps had quite yet officially confirmed the breakup even despite all the attention on their fracture. Until now, that is.

On Thursday afternoon, the former couple’s reps released a joint statement to Us Weekly that officially confirmed the duo’s breakup for the very first time. In it, they said an “abundance of recent interest” from the pair’s fans and followers has finally pushed the PR flaks to speak out about what is actually going on:
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting.”
Uh, recent interest? Honey, we’ve been interested the whole time!!!
That is some very unique phrasing there, tho. “Shifting their relationship over the past many months” to focus on co-parenting. Hmmm. So, these reps never outright say the duo is breaking up in exactly that many words — although, obviously that’s what they are saying. Duh. We just mean, like, what a unique way to put a spin on a split! Come to think of it, perhaps that will be this generation’s “conscious uncoupling“??? Just wondering!
Anyways, speaking of co-parenting, the statement also referenced the couple’s 4-year-old daughter Daisy Dove Bloom:
“They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability and mutual respect.”
Good for them.
Honestly, at this point, we’re just glad it’s out there in the open. Everybody’s been talking about it for a while now, so there’s no sense in holding back any longer. Heck, some insiders have been sounding the alarm that this A-list duo had actually been broken up for a LONG while. Might as well just finally face up to it, right?
Helluva time to do it, though — on Thursday evening in the middle of the summer right before the long holiday weekend linked to the Fourth of July. Oookay! We see you, PR team!
