Fans have their best look yet at Lara-El! Angela Sarafyan reveals a new BTS photo as Superman’s mom in the latest DC Universe film from James Gunn.
Fans lost their minds when it was revealed that James Gunn had brought on Bradley Cooper to play Jor-El in the DC Universe. However, Superman didn’t just have one parent on Krypton. The scene also featured the newest actress to play Lara-El, the mother of the Man of Steel. While many fans didn’t immediately recognize her, the character is portrayed by Angela Sarafyan, best known for her roles in projects like Westworld and The Promise.
Now that the secret is out, Angela Sarafyan took to Instagram to share a BTS photo of herself in the costume for Lara-El. This came with a small caption celebrating the success of Superman, and thanking crew members like James Gunn for giving her the chance to live out a dream. After all, not many people can come to have played the mother of the DC Universe’s most powerful hero!
Lara-El’s Future In The DC Universe
Unlike Jor-El, there isn’t much precedent in the comics when it comes to Lara-El having a massive comeback in the future of the DC Universe. It’s likely that Superman will be the only time Angela Sarafyan appears as the iconic character, unless James Gunn decides to bring her back for a small cameo in a sequel or adjacent project.
That being said, the impact of characters like Lara-El and Jor-El have always been felt long after they stopped appearing in adaptations. So even though Angela Sarafyan likely won’t be brought back as Mrs. Oz in the DC Universe, it’s clear that the actress’ small performance will live in the hearts of fans for generations to come.
