Lawmakers returned to the Capitol this week to begin a sprint to finish work on a bill to keep the government funded, and legislation to authorize major defense programs.

In the Senate, lawmakers will continue meeting with key nominees from President-elect Trump, whose pick for the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, said today that he’s been told to keep fighting.

Lawmakers are also expected to weigh in on the arrest of a person of interest in last week’s shock killing on a Manhattan street of United Healthcare’s CEO.
