Is Morbius making his way to the MCU? Jared Leto is at the center of a rumor suggesting that Marvel wants him back for a new role.
Jared Leto may be the most clowned about actor in all of comic book media. Morbius was one of the biggest flops in Marvel’s history, and serving as the start of Sony’s own take on the MCU collapsing after it bombed, not once, but twice at the box office. This isn’t even to mention his role as Joker in Suicide Squad, a casting decision so infamous even Teen Titans GO! made fun of it.
Yet it seems, despite everything, Marvel isn’t done with the Morbius star just yet. A rumor from MyTimeToShineHello suggests the studio wants Jared Leto for a new role in the MCU. While the scooper did confirm that Leto wouldn’t be playing Ghost Rider, no further information on what character he could be playing or what project Marvel may be eyeing him for.
Who Will Jared Leto Play In The MCU?
Given how terribly Morbius flopped, it’s not likely that Marvel would touch the character with a ten foot pole, let alone bring Jared Leto back as his infamous role in the MCU. However, that doesn’t mean he couldn’t play another Spider-Man villain. Some of the most popular casting choices from fans online include characters like Norman Osborn, a manic millionaire energy Leto was effortlessly able to capture in American Psycho.
Yet when it comes to non-Spider-Man characters, one Marvel character stands head and shoulders above the rest when it comes to fancasts: Mister Sinister. Could this be because fans are already used to seeing Jared Leto as pale with long hair thanks to Morbius? Probably. But given the character has been the center of many rumors for the MCU, it wouldn’t be shocking if they made their appearance relatively soon.
