Is Kang ever coming back to the MCU? A recent report gives light on if Marvel is considering Jonathan Majors to make a return as the controversial villain.
The tale of Jonathan Majors is one familiar to anyone who has followed the MCU in recent years. The rising star was poised as the next big bad of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with him playing variants of Kang the Conqueror across multiple projects. Everything seemed set to make the star the face of what may be the biggest blockbuster event in history.
This all came crashing down when Jonathan Majors was arrested on charges of strangulation, assault, and harassment against his former partner. Following his guilty verdict in December of 2023, Marvel dropped Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, changing the course of the MCU’s ongoing saga to focus on Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom.
Will Jonathan Majors Return As Kang?
Now just over a year out from the decision, Jonathan Majors is attempting to make his Hollywood comeback. Majors is set to return to the silver screen this March in Magazine Dreams, a Sundance award-winning film shelved in 2023 following Majors’ guilty verdict. This led many to wonder if Marvel would consider bringing Majors back into the MCU as Kang the Conqueror.
It seems fans shouldn’t count on it. A report from TMZ indicates that Marvel has not reached out to Jonathan Majors to return as Kang the Conqueror. Given the messy fallout between Majors and the studio, it’s understandable that neither party would even want to broach the idea of bringing him back to the MCU, especially given how controversial the case still is on social media.
