Is Nicholas Hoult finally making his return as Beast? The Superman star breaks silence on making an appearance as the beloved Hank McCoy in Avengers: Doomsday.
Older Marvel fans went absolutely buck wild when it was revealed that Kelsey Grammer would be making his return as Beast in Avengers: Doomsday. To many, the actor is the picture-perfect representation of Hank McCoy, and him reprising the role has topped many fans’ nerdy bucket lists. However, he’s not everyone’s definitive Beast. To others, Nicholas Hoult is their childhood version of the Agile Avenger.
During the press tour to promote his role in the upcoming Superman film, Nicholas Hoult was actually asked about Kelsey Grammer reprising his role as Beast in Avengers: Doomsday. It seems there’s nothing but goodwill between the two actors for Hank McCoy, as Hoult revealed that he’s excited to see Grammer and all the other original X-Men return one more time on the big screen.
“Kelsey was a great Beast,” Hoult told Entertainment Weekly. “He was the Beast I saw when I was a kid, along with the other actors that they’re bringing back, Patrick and Ian and James and all them. Those were the characters that I got to watch in X-Men movies. I’m excited to see what they do with it. It’ll be fun to see how they incorporate those characters into that world.”
Is Nicholas Hoult In Avengers: Doomsday?
Of course, while on the topic of Kelsey Grammer’s return as Beast, the reporter couldn’t just ignore the elephant in the room. The outlet followed up the topic of conversation by asking Nicholas Hoult if there were any plans for him to make a return as Hank McCoy in Avengers: Doomsday. Sadly, it seems as though there isn’t, with the actor answering with a curt “No”.
This doesn’t mean that Nicholas Hoult will NEVER make a return as Beast. It’s possible that the actor appears as Hank McCoy in Secret Wars after Kelsey Grammer takes the focus in Avengers: Doomsday. However, given the controversial nature of his era of X-Men films, it’s likely that the nostalgia wave for them won’t hit for another decade or so.
