Will Obi-Wan Kenobi finally make his return to Disney Plus? The latest rumor suggests the controversial series may finally get a season 2.
To many, Obi-Wan Kenobi was the canary in the coal mine for Star Wars on Disney Plus. The franchise seemed to be hitting win after win. However, the long-awaited series focused on Obi-Wan before the days of the original trilogy turned out to be a disappointment for many longtime fans. This led to the long, painful spiral of shows being taken out behind the shed before they could even redeem themselves with a season 2.
However, it seems the death of Obi-Wan Kenobi may have been greatly exaggerated. The latest rumor from insider DanielRPK suggests that the series will return for an official season 2. Though, given the scooper only states that it’s “in development”, it’s likely that the project won’t actually hit Disney Plus until very late 2027- and that’s at the absolute earliest!
What Will Obi-Wan Kenobi Season 2 Be About?
Given the first season was written to be a stand-alone movie, there’s not much runway for Obi-Wan Kenobi when it comes to making a season 2. However, if there’s one thing fans have learned about Disney Plus, it’s that they’ll make a project work so long as the main actor and the studio want it the show to make its return.
With how much modern Star Wars fans have nostalgia for the Clone Wars era, it’s likely that Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 would feature the return of Hayden Christensen’s Anakin and Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka. Though given one of those would presently be the franchise’s main villain, it’s unclear what story decisions could be made to justify bringing the character back more than they already appeared in the show’s freshman outing.
