Patrick Schwarzenegger Reveals How Far He Got In The Audition Process To Join The DC Universe

Was Patrick Schwarzenegger almost our Superman? The Gen V star breaks down how close he was to joining the DC Universe’s inaugural film.

There was one thing on everyone’s mind when Gen V first hit the airwaves: Patrick Schwarzenegger was born to play a superhero. While the actor had a comparatively small role in The Boys spin-off, almost everyone agreed that he needed a bigger role in some kind of superhero project. And with the DC Universe hurtling toward a reboot with Superman, many saw that as the perfect opportunity for him to slap on a new pair of tights.

Dozens of roles were thrown out as the best fit for Patrick Schwarzenegger, with perhaps the most popular being the role of Hal Jordan (now played by Kyle Chandler). However, it seems that the Gen V star had higher ambitions in the DC Universe. When speaking during a recent episode of the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Schwarzenegger revealed that he actually auditioned for the leading role of Superman…even if he didn’t get very far!

“I’ve only auditioned for, I think, like two superheroes. I think it was literally Homelander, and then I think it was Golden Boy, and Superman. Those are the three I’ve auditioned for.” He explained before clarifying “No, I don’t think I got any feedback [on Superman]. I think it was like, ‘No, not for you’”

Who Could Patrick Schwarzenegger Play In The DC Universe?

While it’s a shame that Patrick Schwarzenegger’s audition for Superman may not have gone as well as he’d hoped, that doesn’t mean he’s out of contention for the DC Universe. As stated before, fans have had a bevvy of ideas of who the Gen V star could play on the big screen. Along with Green Lantern and Superman, Schwarzenegger has also been floated for roles like The Flash and Aquaman when they finally make their return to the silver screen.

Though Patrick Schwarzenegger hasn’t only been suggested to play big names in the DC Universe. The actor’s role in Gen V made him one of the top picks to play Booster Gold in the eyes of many fans. He’s also been fancast to play The Doctor in The Authority, given one of the member’s of the team is already set to appear in Superman. Though given how young he is, it’s only a matter of time until he finds himself in a pair of spandex!

Superman is currently scheduled to hit theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the DC Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
