Prithviraj Sukumaran returns as Zayed Masood in L2: Empuraan, the much-anticipated sequel to Lucifer. Zayed, a character shrouded in mystery, was introduced in Lucifer as a mercenary commando working for the powerful Khureshi Ab’raam, who dominates the global gold and diamond trade. However, Empuraan promises to delve deeper into his backstory, shedding light on his past and his connection to Khureshi Ab’raam.

Talking about L2: Empuraan, Prithviraj said, “In Lucifer, you were introduced to Zayed only as the mercenary commando of the infamous nexus of Khureshi Ab’raam who controls the world’s gold and diamond trade. Like every character in this franchise, scripted by Murali Gopy, Zayed also has a past, a backstory about a world that was his. You would briefly get to know what that is and how Khureshi Ab’raam (Mohanlal) become a part of that through Empuraan in the Lucifer franchise. In Lucifer, you have seen a complex world filled with a lot of characters and the dynamics between them. In Empuraan, this will increase further and you will also see the backdrop become bigger.”
This revelation suggests that Empuraan will elevate the stakes, expanding on the complex web of power, loyalty, and betrayal that defined the first film. Zayed’s character arc is expected to be crucial, offering insights into his motivations and his intricate ties to the larger narrative.
