Renée Zellweger‘s friends want her to kick Ant Anstead to the curb! That’s what insiders are claiming…
If you missed it, a source revealed to Dailymail.com late last month they spotted him hanging out at the beach with another woman alone. He even slept over at her house in Laguna Beach! The woman in question was identified as Julia “Jules” French, a 36-year-old spin instructor who is in the middle of a divorce. But the problem with his overnight stay with her? Ant is still currently in a relationship with Renée! We’ve been assured by reps they haven’t broken up! So, what’s going on?

His rep insisted nothing! They told Page Six that he and Renée “are still together.” As for Jules, they explained she’s just a “friend,” and nothing more. Hmm. The rep explained:
“Mr. Anstead is working mostly in the UK, and he has spent some of his limited time back in [Orange County] at his friend’s home. His friend Jules has a separate, detached guest house, and the suggestion that their relationship is anything other than platonic is unacceptable and untrue.”
At the time, a source further explained Ant moved out of his rental in April 2023. Despite reports, he never moved in with Renée — despite her having a rental in Laguna Beach! She was not ready for that step, apparently, “so he has to find his own place to stay” whenever he has business in the area. That place happens to now be Jules’ home, which is convenient since she sometimes watches his son Hudson.
OK, so there’s innocent explanations for everything. But is Renée OK with his current living arrangements? If the Bridget Jones’s Diary star is, she must feel pretty damn secure! That’s a lot of trust in Ant! We mean, plenty of girlfriends wouldn’t be able to handle their partner staying under the same roof at another woman’s house — especially someone who’s good-looking and recently single!
But according to RadarOnline on Tuesday, Renée is fully confident the Wheeler Dealers star would never, ever cheat on her! She reportedly told friends after the whole ordeal:
“I love him and I trust him. I’m not walking away now.”
Her pals, however, really want her to leave Ant! One source close to the actress claimed they feel she’s ignoring all his red flags:
“Ant is insisting this is all a huge misunderstanding and he’s done nothing wrong, but Renée’s friends feel the fact he’s staying with this beautiful divorcee is a huge red flag, even if he has been living in the guest room. They’re convinced Renée’s burying her head in the sand about it.”
Fair! If Renée was our friend, we would also be concerned! Why couldn’t he stay anywhere else like a hotel or another rental? Well, there is an answer to that. His finances are reportedly in bad shape, so this is saving him some cash. But the money probz are another worry for Renée’s pals!
The television host is reportedly facing bankruptcy with his car company and battling more than $3 million in lawsuits. Yikes. RadarOnline sources said he is “fully committed” to the business and tried to stabilize his finances by selling assets, including his Laguna Beach home. And apparently, avoiding shelling out money to rent a new place or pay hotel fees in Laguna by living with Jules here and there!
Not helping? During all this, Ant and Renée aren’t spending as much time together as they used to. She’s been filming the new season of Only Murders In The Building in New York City. Absence can make the heart grow fonder… or it can lead to loneliness. And we all know what can unfortunately happen sometimes with distance — a partner could stray. Renée isn’t worried, though! A pal added:
“She trusts that Ant wouldn’t cheat on her, even if they have dialled things down a bit and spent way less time together recently. Ultimately her wish is to keep the romance going and stand by her man.”
Another source said:
“She’s not ready to jump straight to the worst-case scenario and dump him over this. She loves him and trusts him. But her friends aren’t nearly so understanding — they are begging her to take her rose-colored glasses off and dump him.”
They added:
“They’ve always had a slightly unconventional set-up. But they certainly don’t have any sort of open relationship, which is why some see this as such a red flag.”
Hopefully, her friends are wrong, and Ant is a faithful, trustworthy guy! We would hate to see Renée go through another heartbreak!
