Is Sebastian Stan showing up in Captain America: Brave New World? The Bucky Barnes actor dances around the question of a cameo in the upcoming film.
Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan have been tied at the hip for much of their time in the MCU. Both Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson were the main supporting heroes in the Captain America franchise, with the actors’ banter being some of the most memorable parts of Marvel’s promotional tours. The two even shared a Disney Plus show in the form of Falcon and the Winter Soldier.
Yet as a franchise enters a new era, so too do Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson. Sebastian Stan is set to appear in Thunderbolts later this year, with Anthony Mackie leading the next installment of the Captain America franchise with Captain America: Brave New World. These projects would serve as one of the few times the actors have been separated since Mackie joined the MCU all the way back in 2014 with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
Will Sebastian Stan Appear In Brave New World?
This separation has led many to speculate that Sebastian Stan could make a small cameo as Bucky Barnes in Captain America: Brave New World, potentially tying the two films together. Stan has so far been tight-lipped about any reunion with Mackie in the MCU, and it seems that isn’t changing now. The actor jokingly shut down a question about his appearance in the film, while at the same time revealing he missed working with Anthony Mackie.
“No sorry, you mean Thunderbolts?” Jokingly asked in an interview with Variety, before expanding in the outlet’s recent profile on him. “[Filming] ‘Thunderbolts*’, let me tell you, it was a much quieter year for me because I didn’t see Anthony Mackie. So, I’ll say that. Although I miss Anthony Mackie like daily, and it’s something I don’t like to admit.”
Sebastian Stan has been around the block enough with the MCU to know he can’t say anything about a cameo in Captain America: Brave New World even if he was in it. However, given his tease about missing Anthony Mackie, it wouldn’t be shocking to see Bucky Barnes appear for a short scene at the end of the film as a tease of a reunion to come.
