Seth Rollins Confirms His Character Was Cut From ‘Captain America: Brave New World’

]

Seth Rollins is no longer in the Marvel Cinematic Universe! An interview with the wrestler reveals his role has been scrapped from the final version of Captain America: Brave New World.

One of the earliest reveals fans got from the set of Captain America: Brave New World was the reveal that Seth Rollins would be appearing in a key action sequence in the film. While it was never officially confirmed who he would be playing, all signs pointed to him taking up the mantle of Cobra in the Serpent Society, a long-awaited villain team from the Captain America comics.

However, as the months went on Captain America: Brave New World underwent reshoots, it seemed as though Seth Rollins and the rest of the Serpent Society would be cut from the film. Though these worries seemed to be alleviated when it was confirmed in trailers that Giancarlo Esposito would appear as Sidewinder, one of the leaders of the Serpent Society. Even though members like Cobra hadn’t been seen, it seemed certain they would make some sort of appearance.

Why Was Seth Rollins Cut From Captain America: Brave New World?

Sadly, it seems Cobra may be cut for good. In a recent interview on Insight with Chris Van Vliet, Seth Rollins revealed that his role was ultimately scrapped in the final version of Captain America: Brave New World. He would continue that, while he’s not sure what is covered by an NDA, he can confirm that the loss of his part was due to rewrites in the script.

“I wish it the best, but I am not a part of that film. Does my NDA still apply if I’m not in the film anymore? Truth be told, any answer I gave would only be my opinion on it. The script went through a lot of rewrites and reshoots so what I was there to do, essentially my role got either repurposed or completely erased.”

“So I did do a bit of an audition to possibly pop into another role, I believe, or the repurposing of my role, I’m not exactly sure on what it was, but they ended up going in a different direction with it. My understanding was there were just a lot of rewrites and a lot of reshoots, and they know they’ve got a finished product that hopefully they’re happy with, and hopefully it’s successful, but it will be sans Seth Rollins.”

This news comes off the heels that Captain America: Brave New World will be the shortest film in the Captain America saga. It’s possible that the entire Serpent Society storyline being axed led to Seth Rollins’ character being cut, with Giancarlo Esposito’s character being a vestigial remnant kept around to keep the film’s logic intact.

Captain America: Brave New World is currently slated to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned for the latest news regarding the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and make sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel for more content!
