Is Steven Yeun officially joining the MCU? A rumor suggests that the actor may be angling himself for a role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
Steven Yeun is certainly an odd apple when it comes to the MCU. He’s one of the very few actors that was publicly attached to a project, in this case Thunderbolts, before departing for scheduling reasons. His involvement was actually the reason the rumor of Sentry being in the film was confirmed, thanks in part due to an interview with Robert Kirkman. This has left many to wonder if Yeun might return to play a role in a future MCU project, with eyes settling on Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
When the actor first left Thunderbolts, he did make it clear that he had interest in joining the MCU at a later date. And given the recent rumor about some key villains taking heavy inspiration from Asian culture, Steven Yeun may be on the top of Marvel’s mind when trying to cast big names for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. This especially due to the recent success of sci-fi projects the actor has starred in like Mickey 17 and Invincible.

The speculation from fans may, for once, be on the mark. A rumor for MyTimeToShineHello reveals that the studio is eyeing Steven Yeun for an undisclosed role in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. However, given all of the circumstantial evidence around the project, it’s more likely than not that Steven Yeun would be playing Mister Negative in the MCU.
It’s possible that this could only be the start of Steven Yeun’s involvement in the franchise. Fans familiar with Marvel’s Spider-Man games on Playstation know how big of a role Mister Negative played in both games, especially when it comes to Miles Morales. It’s possible that Spider-Man: Brand New Day could be the first step in a very long, long walk Yeun will be taking with the MCU.
