Superman is facing off with some ferocious villains! The latest character posters for the DC Universe film showcase the Engineer, Rick Flag Sr., and Lex Luthor.
While most of the publicity goes to the heroes, villains are truly the core of any good superhero movie. They serve as the primary obstacles for the heroes to overcome, as well as well facilitate the best action set pieces. To say that the DC Universe is starting off on a good note in this regard is an understatement, with Superman featuring heavy hitters like Lex Luthor and Rick Flag Sr. alongside lesser-known entities like The Engineer.
Each of these villains get their own time in the spotlight in the most recent batch of character posters for Superman. For many, its the best look fans have gotten of them in the DC Universe so far. The Engineer specifically hasn’t gotten much game time in trailers, mostly standing behind Lex Luthor and Rick Flag Sr. in an attempt to beef up whatever plans they have going on in any given scene.
The Role Of Villains In Superman
Interestingly, joining the likes of Rick Flag Sr. and The Engineer is Metamorpho. The character was initially shown off in the slate of character posters for the heroes of Superman. His presence in both batches lines up with recent leaks from the project, which suggest that he’s torn between working with Superman and Lex Luthor in order to ensure the safety of his son.
These also aren’t all the villains in Superman. Notably missing are Ultraman, the Hammer of Boravia, and the mysterious alien seen in BTS images with Lex Luthor. It’s likely this was done as some of the above may end up being revealed as the same person. Though hopefully character posters for them come out relatively soon after the film finally hits theaters.
