We never thought we’d hear Trace Cyrus of all people weighing in on Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco‘s love story! But he’s making his thoughts known… such as they are…
On Instagram Thursday, Miley Cyrus‘ brother went on a rant about the couple. He reposted a picture from the viralpopculture account with the headline:
“Benny Blanco Admits He’s Scared Selena Gomez Will Leave Him”
It was an article examining a joint Interview magazine convo in which he admitted he’s “so scared” one day Selly is “just going to wake up and be like, ‘What? No!’”
Trace apparently read the quote and is convinced this is a BIG red flag! He wrote that it was a “nail in the coffin for the relationship”:
“He spoke it into existence. While openly admitting he thinks she’s too good for him. Men don’t have to be attractive to be with a beautiful woman. They just need to have confidence.”
We mean, Benny seems to have a lot of confidence! He’s funny, charismatic, smart, he cooks, he’s absolutely OBSESSED with Selena… what’s the problem? Plus, in their new song they BOTH said they’re scared to lose each other. It’s a pretty common thing for people in love. Frankly, we think being vulnerable enough to admit it can be a GREEN flag!

The former Metro Station guitarist went on to say he “doesn’t personally know Benny” but really digs him… and thinks he’s got the wrong mindset to hold onto the pop goddess:
“I don’t know Benny personally but I love him as a producer and have watched every podcast he’s done. Love his personality. And in my view she’s just as lucky to be with him as he is with her. That’s the mindset he needs if the relationship is going to last.”
The 36-year-old went on to say “unfortunately nice guys really do finish last” before making another generalization about women — as if that’s going to make anyone want to hear him out:
“I hope he doesn’t let all the press and jokes get to him about their relationship. Confidence is key as a man and unfortunately women think they want to be put on a pedestal but as soon as you act like they are superior in the relationship they start to lose respect.”

Remember y’all, this is the same guy who said all his exes had to “settle” after being with him and that he “genuinely feels bad” for any woman who’s lost him. So, uh… how’s that endless confidence working out for ya, there? Maybe Trace isn’t the one to be making statements about the failures of an engaged couple who are clearly extremely happy and healthy together?
